Dodge Ball Fun & Facts                                                                What Do You Think?

On Saturday, April 16th we hosted our first MYC Dodge Ball Tournament and it was a hit!  Half an hour before the games were scheduled to begin there were already dozens of teams waiting around discussing game strategies and getting to know the opposing teams. Everyone was excited to get started and play some dodge ball!

We had 19 teams competing and many spectators who came from all over to watch these teams play and find out who would claim dodge ball victory. The teams had a chance to play at least two games and they played until they lost two, then they were out of the tournament.

The game of dodge ball is a simple game that many of us hadn't played since elementary school where it was the ultimate game of win or lose, don't get hit or you're out. For those of you who missed out on our first dodge ball tournament and never had the chance to play in grade school, the rules are as follows: Each team starts out with six players and there are six balls placed on the middle line. When the referee gives the word, both teams race to the middle line to grab the balls and then proceed to throw them at their opponents. If you are hit by a live ball, you're out, but if you catch one the person who threw it is out and you get to take back one of your teammates who was out of the game.

Like I said, it's a simple game that almost everyone loves to play as well as watch. We gave awards to our top four teams: first place was Town Clark from O'Gorman High School; second place was the Mile High Ballers, also from O'Gorman; third place was awarded to the Slip Stream Ballers from Washington High School; and our fourth place team was the C-Team from O'Gorman.

We're hoping to start a dodge ball league so keep checking this website for information. Thank you to all the teams, spectators and adults who helped out.
